The Highlight Reel

It's the top of the first. Runners on 1st and 2nd, CRACK!!! The balls leaves the bat at an astounding speed upwards of 20 miles per hour. The focus of the third baseman Matthew Welch never falters as he begins his stalking of the ball as it races t'ward him.....

Although he calls off the other players, laying claim the ball as his own, they cannot resist the chase. Little do his team-mates know that there will be no sharing of this play, the Honkball great, known to some as Matthew or known to others as Mr. Honkball, is now seeing through the eye of the tiger and nothing can take his focus away from his goal.

With the agility known to few mortals this honkball player dives to gain possession of the ball. Then with cat-like speeds he is yet again on his feet. One step is taken..... and with a mighty throw the ball turns into nothing but a flash, screaming t'ward it's first base target with such speed the recipient of this throw can only stand in awe as the ball careens t'ward him. Time is standing still. Those in the bleachers can only watch as this once ball, now small meteorite, threatens to make the first baseman rethink his career path. A deer in headlights indeed.

This one's to you Mr. Honkball eye of the tiger throws with such power it invokes nothing but fear into the oposing team guy. Well done sir...well done.

Oh but fret not my Honkball fans and fellow readers. Our hero does more than just field the perfect play. But I fear you can only take one story at a time. For a story so great as his batting we shall have to be patient for another time.....

Fishin'

Today we joined the Langford family for an afternoon filled with fishin' and food. Matthew always has fun with his friends Jonathan and Maxwell and this was no exception. The fish were biting like crazy. Matthew caught a huge catfish. I even surprised Clay with hooking warms on a fishing pole, it is always exciting when you learn something new about the one you love.

He Rides Alone

This was Matthew's second day to attempt riding his bike with no training wheels. He picked it up quite fast. He was so excited that he was doing it all by himself that he didn't want to stop. He was so excited to tell his friends and granparents all about it.

Matthew's Drawings

This is a picture of a hotel with a bridge that connects the two sides because there is no elevator. The bridge takes you to the blue pool.

This picture is a submarine plane that is in the water. Under the submarine plane is a big shark.

Matthew describes this picture as a flower with blue sky, rain and the sun.

Dinosaur Valley State Park

Our last stop on our day trip was th Dinosaur Valley State Park where we saw 113 million year old Dinosaur tracks in the Paluxy River bed. Matthew and Dad had a great time walking in the water ontop of tracks while Paige and Mommy watched (the water was to deep for Paige). Paige was filled with laughter and smiles when Daddy helped her play in the water, it is going to be hard to keep this girl out of the water this summer. Matthew had fun looking at the tracks and walking through the slimmy water. Matthew took the pictures of the tracks, he loves taking pictures and videos. After spending the day with the Dinosaurs it was Clay and I that were more exhausted than the kids.

Glen Rose Dinosaur Park

After a windy honkball game we loaded up the kids and headed to Glen Rose for a day with the Dinosaurs. Our first stop, lunch at the local Dairy Queen. After lunch we headed to Dinosaur World where we saw over 100 life-size Dinosaurs. Matthew's favorite part was the fossil dig where he found and took home three teeth.

Happy Birthday Baby Girl!!

My little sweet Paige is 1. You have brought so much love and entertainment into our family. I finally have a girl to dress up in fun outfits and put bows in your hair. You make us all laugh with your expressions. You are in love with food and your favorite thing to eat are grapes. You are scooting along tables, climbing onto things, and able to stand by yourself for about 6 seconds. You love to walk behind push toys and soon will be on your way to walking. You can say mama and love to squeal instead of talk. You still have your fairy hand motion and your curling toes. You love pestering your brother and playing with anything that he plays with and even make car noises while pushing a car. You like the hair on your dolls and even brush your hair. We call you baby girl or paigey paige. We love you so much and can't wait to see the growth in the next coming year.

Cake

Paige didn't even hesitate on eating her cake, before the candle was blown out she had already dug in. Everyone had so much fun watching you that all of the sudden we looked down and 1/4 of the cake was gone. Upsetting as it was it was time to take the cake away.
