Jack the Pumpkin

A pumpkin coming to life through a four years old boy's eyes. The excitement of getting your hands gooey and your first carve with the knife all the way through knowing that the pumpkin will be named Jack. As soon as it is complete the anticipation of the lights turning out and the glow that will illuminate from the face of a pumpkin named Jack.

Matthew gets Stapled up

Tonight at the ward Halloween party a group of boys were playing out in the hallway. I just sat down to eat and one of my activity day girls brought Matt to me and said I don't know what happened. Matthew was crying. After trying to console him for a bit I saw a gash on the side of his head. We rushed him over to CareNow and he ended up getting two staples in his head to help heal the gash. It ends up that one boy pushed him and he fell into the wall. Matthew was so brave. He wanted so badly to stay and Trunk or Treat so the only way that we could get him away is to tell him that he could pick out his first Batman toy. He has suddely taken a love for Batman. Earlier in the day he was rough housing with his dad and ended up running into Clay's elbow which lead to a bump and bruise on the other side of his head by his eye. For a kid that has never gotten hurt before it looks like he just got out of the octagon of the UFC. The doctors at the CareNow looked more concerned about the bruise on his face and I am surprises they did not call CPS on us.
As a mother it hurts so much inside when you are watching your child go through so much pain when they were numbing him up with an injection to his mellon. I was almost in tears, feeling so helpless and wanting the pain to be placed upon me. He did so wonderful and Clay did the tough part of holding him through all of this.

Uncle Allan Entertaining Matthew

This picture was just to funny for me to pass up posting.

Paige's Laugh

It is amazing to me at this stage in life to see laughter and the small things that can get this little girl rolling.

Paige's First Tooth!!!

Finally yesterday Paige's first tooth popped out. It is her bottom left tooth. She has had such a painfull experience ( so have I). Hopefully for a couple of days she can enjoy life before the next one comes in and maybe even get a couple of nights of good sleep.

Matthew Update

This is the first picture that Matthew has drawn by himself that he wanted to write a name on. He spelled Grammy (letters not in the right order but up there). He drew her and the circles are buttons. Since Matthew has started preschool it is as if a light switch has been turned on. He loves to write letters and color. The thought process in his mind is different. His vocabulary has advanced tremendously. He loves to say "I have a great idea" or "I have a plan". He loves building track, riding his bike and scooter, sending things down his slide (including toy lawn movers). Since his Daddy has been home he has been his little side kick. He has soooo much energy. We love having him around to keep us on our toes.

Matt's Soccer pictures came in this week.

I just thought I would scan and share Matt's soccer team pictures we received.
I think they turned out rather well.

Paige has become the Kickers team cheerleader!!! This week my mom was able to attend a game and she had so much fun watching Matthew play, it reminded her of when Allan played.

Matt the pilot.

Today a friend of mine wanted to take his work airplane to get gas at an airport with cheap fuel. So he called me up and invited me and Matt to go along. I was a bit worried that Matt may not like the loud engine but he did great. He was very serious and into his flying. On the leg back Matt drove most of the way. You could tell him which way to turn and he would do it spot on!! I was amazed. Then to top it off Matt was able to do his first flyby. Note this everyone....Matt's first flyby at 4 years old!

I'm a Pilot.

Paige is Six Months Old

Paige's Favorite Sitting Position
Paige has already been in our lives for 6 months. Time flies by when you have two kids. She now weighs 16.6 pounds and is 26 1/4 inches long. She has to be engaged with everyone else and loves sitting. She has picked up some nicknames. One is Grabby Patties because she constantly grabs at every little thing that is in her reach and tries to grab at everything out of her reach. Another nickname is Pterodactyl because of the sounds that comes out of her mouth. We also think that she is a monkey at times. She tries to grab things with her little toes. She always has them curled up. When she is sitting and eating she twirls her left foot. We have decided that she looks like my dad, she gets these expressions on her face and it looks just like him. She still hates being on her belly so we have no clue on when she will start crawling. Paige does like to stand. She is a momma's girl. She has to have me in sight all the time or she starts crying and it seems like I am the only one that can stop the crying. She loves things that make noise and loves rattling them. She has started to clap her thighs. She loves watching her big brother and he has been such an amazing big brother to her. It is amazing to see the love that he has for her and how protective he is of her already. We love our Miss Paige.

Splashing

After the rain subsided Matthew went outside to find worms and to splash in the puddles. Paige watched Matthew with great interest and when we put her feet in the water she began to splash and giggle with delight that she had just done what her brother had done.

Pumpkin Patch

We went to the Flower Mound pumpkin patch on Friday with Grammy. Matthew did not want to take pictures because he wanted to play in the bounce houses. Miss Paige was a poser the whole time. Matthew to this day still does not like sitting on hay but Paige loved it.

Joey's funeral was Thursday.....

On Sunday morning BigJoe died after battling cancer for the past 10 months. So Thursday (day of the funeral) was not fun. On a very high note the place he was buried has some history to it. We had been camping right behind this cemetery many many moons ago as well as general raising of cane along the street he is now buried on. The location was one of the only things that made me smile most of the day.

The pictures I have of BigJoe are all very old (6+ years old). We just didn't take many pictures during those days. One is of Joe at a Halloween party and the other is BigJoe holding Jo back in high school.

A Day in Grapevine

We decided to pack the kids up for a pinic at the park and a trip to the botanical gardens & railroad museum in Grapevine.
