Asleep on the Job

I have been busy cooking while anticipation the arrival of Clay tonight. The poor guy has had just about enough of Taco Cabana. Paige has been my little helper. I turned around while making split pea soup and found that she was sleeping on the job. Cooking can take it out of ya. Hopefully Clayton will enjoy some good home cooking the couple of days he is home. I made for the first time an apple pie (his favorite thing).

ATR Crash

The news is pretty clear that FedEx is stating weather was not a factor. Look at the bottom line of the current weather when they shot the approach..... The first line is the actual weather then I translated it for ease of reading.

METAR text: KLBB 270953Z 01014KT 3SM FZDZ BR OVC005 M08/M09 A3013 RMK AO2 PRESRR SLP227 P0000 T10781094

Conditions at: KLBB (LUBBOCK, TX, US) observed 0953 UTC 27 January 2009
Temperature: -7.8°C (18°F)
Dewpoint: -9.4°C (15°F) [RH = 88%]
Pressure (altimeter): 30.13 inches Hg (1020.4 mb)
[Sea-level pressure: 1022.7 mb]
Winds: from the N (10 degrees) at 16 MPH (14 knots; 7.3 m/s)
Visibility: 3 miles (5 km)
Ceiling: 500 feet AGL
Clouds: overcast cloud deck at 500 feet AGL
Weather: FZDZ BR (freezing drizzle, mist)

Freezing drizzle and mist is NOT to be played with. And I'm sure they will keep stating that Ice was not a factor, disregarding the ATR's already proven track record in ice. I learned that lesson as well. However I was lucky and I was flying the F27. A known Icing truck vs the ATR. A sports car in comparison.

I feel very lucky. This aircraft was flying my run out of Midland and the Captain flying was the Captain that bumped me out of SLC a few months ago. Luckily for me he took that base from me. Otherwise it would have been me in that airplane.

Good news for the crew is the Captain should be released from the hospital today and the F/O sustained a few breaks but will be OK. If you look at the top of the cockpit on one of the pictures you will see where to escape hatch is. That's the exit. Out the top and dropped 10 feet to the ice below. Not fun.

She Can Crawl!!!!

My girl loves food, so as an incentive we added food into the equation to help Paige learn how to crawl. New underestimate the power of food for a 9 month old.

Fun on the Scooter

Matthew loves riding his scooter and likes to go up the temporary ramp that showed up one day. The other day there were a bunch of older kids using the ramp and Matthew is still in the process of learning the tricks the kids were doing. The start of the dare devil days.

Enough Said!!!!

Paige Update

Paige does well now holding herself up in crawling position. She's got going in reverse down and always gets caught in a corner. She is able to pull herself up to her knees. Her first word was "MaMa" and she says when ever she wants me. She loves to wave to say hi and bye. She has what I call fairy hands when ever she gets really excited about something, she holds her arms out and her little fingers move in and out. Ever since we got back from the ski trip she has been sleeping through the night which is such a blessing with Clay gone. She goes to bed around 7:30 and feeds around 4:30 and then again at 6:30. She wakes up around 8:00. She takes a nap around 9, 12 and 5 every day.

Paige's New Bedding

Over the Christmas break, I finally got around to making some of Paige's bedding. I was able to complete a valance, bed skirt, fitted crib sheet and a cover for her changing pad. I still have lots to do but thought I would show my progress.

Fun in the Sand

Today was a beautiful day so Matt thought it would be a great idea to play in the sand box. Paige was very curios about the texture of sand not quite sure if she likes the gritty feeling between her fingers and toes. Then Matthew thought of another great idea of burring their legs in the sand. I love Paige's smile these days with her two teeth and the way she wrinkles of the side of her nose, it makes me smile every day. She is now 9 months old and any day now I expect her to be crawling.

Mom & Dad

Thanks for an amazing vacation. I am so lucky to have you guys as parents. We enjoyed your visit so much. Mom, you still have to laugh about how Paige was so fond of dad and had quite a lengthy warm up period for you. We miss you guys so much!!!! Dad, I am glad you are back at work so you can finally unwind (LOL)!!!!

Allan & Neely

Allan, thanks for being so awesome with the kids, they love their uncle so much. Thanks for always making sure that we are taken care of. Neely, becoming Matthew's favorite has brought much frustration to Allan, but you have to laugh about it. We are so glad to have you as a part of our family. Thanks for always thinking of us.

Stacey & Trent

Stacey, thank you so much for being such a wonderful sister. I love talking with you and being able to confide in you. Thanks for making sure that Paige's noise was always pretty (little girls can't have a dirty face) and for taking the burden of driving back. Trent, thanks for making us all laugh. Thanks for the awesome frog, you know how to keep your cleaning lady happy!

Matthew & Daddy Sking Over a Jump

This is one happy "medium" boy ( Matthew calls himself medium because he is not as small as Paige and not quite as big as daddy). I love the expression on his face, pure joy.

Crash

The day we got back from New Mexico my parents where on the way to my house to drop stuff off when they saw me at the vet across the street from my house. My dad made a sudden right hand turn from the left hand lane and caused a camaro to smash into a light pole. The camaro was totaled but my dad's truck had damage to the bumper and a bent tire rod. Matthew was in the vet parking lot in the car and saw the whole thing. This is a picture he drew the first day back at school of a race car that crashed just like the red camaro.

Paige's Separation Anxiety

At the age of 9 months for some babies they develop a case of separation anxiety and have a hard time traveling and being out of their normal surroundings. Paige suffered from this the whole trip. If she was not in my arms she was screaming her head off. It was not fun for all, but as soon as we got her home she was a happy camper again.

Our Little Family

Mom "Trying" to Get Through the Snow

My dear mom made a great attempt at having her picture in the middle of the snow to show just how much it had snowed. After breaking a sweat, losing her breath, falling and barely making it back up we made it safely back into the cabin.

The Kids

So I tried to get some cute pictures of the kids in the snow. In between Matthew coughing and Paige crying it seemed like a hopeless task!!! I love the first picture, it explains everything!!!
