Matthew starts to read.

So last night I took the time to read along with Matthew to see if he could read the words he was learning in school. This was so much fun and amazing to see him able to recognize some words. He is able to recognize a, I, to, go, like, is. I can't wait to see how far he comes this year with reading. I have to admit the books at his level do not allow me to get into character and I struggle with just getting through a book with such little plot but it is an amazing experience to share with him.

Dressing Up Like Daddy

Washing Dishes

Horrible Hair Day

To celebrate the letter Hh at school they dedicated today as Horrible Hair Day. Matthew was overly excited about this day and could not wait to make his hair red.

Miss Independent

Since Paige decided a couple months ago to give up nursing cold turkey she has become Miss Independent. She has grown up so much in the last couple of months and has relied on me less and less. I now miss the days when she would cry if I was not holding her and wanted nothing to do with anyone else. Those days are gone and she is now 18 months going on 18 years. She is a Diva in the making and she is soooo girly. She can play for hours with a doll, blanket and bottle. She will feed, rock and cover the doll over and over. She still really loves jewelry. Her favorite thing to do is play in the sandbox or play with chalk. She is progressing on speech and any day know she will be saying words left and right. She will say in her own way good morning, amen, hi, grammy, bye, matt, missy, dada, mama, OO and makes animal noises.

Daddy's Girl!!!
(When daddy is home he is my whole world.)
Goodbye highchair! Hello table!!!
(They finally sat me at the table and I can enjoy eating with everyone.)

My hair is long!!!
(But once my hair dries the curls attack.)

I love carrying my lunch tote to school!!!
(Mommy tries to help me but I insist on walking from the car to class while carrying my lunch tote. Then when I get into my class I take my water out and place my bag into my cubby.)

I love big girl panties!!!
(Potty training has started and I have gone a couple of times, then I got sick so we stopped but will soon start up again.)

I have moved from a crib to a toddler bed!!!
(Mommy finally finished the binding on my quilt this week, she is going to paint my bedside table soon and find me a pretty lamp to put on it. It took me about a week to get used to the new bed but I am now sleeping through the night again.)
My blanket and doggie are my cuddlies I can't live without!!!
(Also to comfort myself I like to put my finger in my belly button. Most of the day you will find me pulling my shirt up and playing with my belly button.)

I will get my own snacks and water!!!
(If mommy will not give me water or snacks I simply get it myself. When I am thirsty I will get my own cup, then dunk it in the dog bowl. I have water that I got all by myself. Then I simply get a bowl out and grab whatever I can reach on the self and help myself to a little snack between meals.)

Flips

I was watching Matthew jump on the trampoline and to my surprise I see him doing flips. I was astonished that he picked this trick up without my knowledge. He told me that "Paul taught me." I guess at this stage in his life he is going to start learning all types of things rather they are good or bad.
Friday Clay and I went to pick Mathew up from school and he was crying because another kid had punched him in the face. At first the teacher seemed to not even reprimand the child, but after an email from Clay the child ended up having a parent meeting with the Principal. Matthew did not come away scared from the situation, but I can't even imagine what he has encounter in the up coming years at school.
At dinner one night Matthew went on and on about a pretty girl in his class and how she wears pretty dresses and that she is so pretty. The next day Matthew pointed her out to his Dad and his new crush for the year is Lilah.
He has just started to understand that letters make up words and is able to tell you that ice cream truck starts with i. He loves to watch Ice Road Truckers and recreate what the truckers are doing. His favorite trucker is Lisa Kelly. He really enjoys drawing. I am amazed at the improvement in his drawing technique (I will post some pictures soon). He is an amazing 5 year old boy.
